Özcan Akyol almost suspended by VI? ‘He’s really lucky it’s Christmas’

Özcan Akyol has caused quite a stir by insulting boas in Today Inside. The talk show has gone remarkably deep. “Is this the end of Eus in VI?”

The boas have been in turmoil since they were severely insulted by Özcan Akyol at the table at Today Inside on Monday evening. In the days that followed, something striking happened: there was clear discomfort among the VI trio about the statements their regular guest had made. At one point boa Vadym was even in the studio, who was given some kind of excuse.

A little less

Vadym called the statements ‘hurtful, humiliating and actually disproportionate’. Johan Derksen pretty much collapsed after that. “We can remain cynical, but there are limits. Let me put it this way. We are going to straighten it all out.”

Wilfred Genee: “We all make judgments easily, including in this programme. It has gotten a bit out of hand, for us too.”

Johan: “If you look back, it could have been a little less.”

Reprimand

Victor Vlam, a notorious media expert, sat in front of the TV and was quite surprised. “Heavy reprimand for Özcan Akyol in Today Inside. His criticism of boas could have been a little less, according to Wilfred. Admitting a mistake is not something they do often,” he writes X.

When someone asks him if this is the end of Eus in VI, Victor says: “They are against canceling people in principle, so I don’t expect that. But if the winter break didn’t start after today, they probably wouldn’t have called him for a few weeks.”

Christmas break

So Özcan was saved by the Christmas holidays? Yes, Victor thinks. And then he says he can just come back, even though they now have more guests than before. “They have expanded the number of table guests slightly this season. But Eus fits the format well and those guys are still scarce.”

The bend that the VI trio has made to boas will also have to do with the fact that SBS 6 will broadcast a real boa soap every evening from Monday. “Hopefully they are still willing to cooperate with the program, otherwise Frans Klein will have a problem at 6 p.m.,” wrote Tina Nijkamp.

By their bootstraps

Victor doesn’t think that kneeling has anything to do with that soap opera. “I’m inclined to think they would ignore that. What may play a role is that boas are part of their audience. VI’s supporters are a cross-section of the population.”

On their boot? The VI trio is not allowed to talk about the participation of ‘director’ Marco Louwerens in De Slimste Mens, is it? Victor: “Yes, good point.”
