Özcan Akyol advises Rob Kemps not to renew his exclusive contract with Talpa. He thinks the presenter would do better just to continue on a freelance basis.
Rob Kemps seemed to be the new TV talent in the Netherlands for a while. His program with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk on French chansons was promising, but both gentlemen have now been discredited. Where the former DWDD star slowly seems to be on the way back, the Snollebollekes singer is still in the middle of the storm.
‘No further at Talpa’
Not only is there fierce criticism of Rob’s TV programs, culminating in that interview program in which he had someone else whisper all the questions, but also of his private life. It does not go down well with people that he has abandoned his family with young children for his lascivious background dancer Stéphanie Klaver.
How should things continue with this Rob? According to Özcan Akyol, he would in any case be well advised not to renew his exclusive contract with Talpa, but to opt for a freelance existence.
‘Better start freelancing’
How does Özcan view Rob? “Now, that Rob Kemps, what a story. First a great promise and now people take pleasure in a lesser phase in his life, at least professionally. I think that man has so much assertiveness and enthusiasm, he will come back on his own. Just wait and see.”
He continues in the VARA guide: “But then he might have to start freelancing, because then you can move much more freely. I recommend a nice cultural program on NPO 2, celebrating a different celebrity every week, for example at his birthplace. It will be all right.”
