The family that owns the Zeitfracht Group has taken over the outdoor retailer McTrek. The confirmed time freight upon request from FashionUnited. According to the German commercial register, the entry about the new shareholder was already certified with a notary contract from April 9th. The new owner has completely taken over McTrek Retail GmbH.
In this context, the logo of the outdoor specialist has also been adjusted. In addition to the old logo lettering “McTREK OUTDOOR SPORTS”, the time freight hummingbird can now also be seen on the website.
Shortly after the takeover, the Zeitfracht Group announced that Adler and McTrek would work together and that the clothing supplier would include outdoor products in its range.
Adler has belonged to Zeitfracht Logistik Holding GmbH since last year and managed to get out of insolvency through the takeover. Former McTrek parent company Yeah! AG filed for insolvency in 2020. As a result, the operations and goods of the insolvent Yeah! AG was taken over by the Munich financial investor GA Europe and CM Solutions GmbH and McTrek Retail GmbH was founded, which is now owned by the Zeitfracht owners.
McTrek managing director Christian Müller, who is also active as co-managing director of CM Solutions, will continue to be in charge of the outdoor provider. According to the conglomerate, “intensive cooperation with time freight companies” is planned.
McTrek is closing three locations
The outdoor specialist McTrek has been active for more than 25 years. The first store opened in Frankfurt in 1995 and the first online shop followed just three years later. The company currently has 26 locations in Germany. At the beginning of April there were still 29 stores.
Adler also streamlined its branch network in the past. As part of the insolvency plan that followed the takeover by Zeitfracht, the closure of around 40 locations in Germany was planned.
However, it is currently not known whether there is a connection between the new McTrek owner and the reduced number of stores.
DPD founding member brings parcel service to McTrek stores
In 1962, today’s Zeitfracht group emerged from the forwarding company Schröter. The founding family Schröter is still active in the company today. Wolfram Simon-Schröter has been Managing Director at Zeitfracht since 2015.
In 1976, Zeitfracht founded a cooperation community together with other independent companies. This is the independently managed company DPD, which started as the first private German parcel service, according to the Zeitfracht website. The French Post took over 83.32 percent in 2000 and the British Royal Mail 10.47 percent. At that time, Zeitfracht held 6.21 percent as the last founding member, which the company sold to the French postal company La Poste in 2016.
In a current collaboration, McTrek stores are opening DPD parcel shops to which customers can have their parcels sent and handed in, McTrek announced on Monday.
“We are very pleased that we can now offer our customers this service. That’s one more reason to stop by one of our branches and equip yourself with new products for the upcoming outdoor season,” said Müller. “In the future we would like to develop and offer further joint partner programs together with DPD.”
