“We woke up from the sirens of the fire brigade,” says a neighbor on Wormerplein. “They came with three fire trucks and a lot of police. Only then did I see that the case was going up in flames across the street.”
Now that the weather is light, the damage to Ali’s Turkish pizzas is happy. Only the facade is blackened, the rest of the building was able to extinguish the fire brigade on time last night.
What the minds this Wednesday is mainly concerned with is the question of what is going on at the catering business. Last Monday the square was still full of police after the case was shot at in the middle of the night and was smeared with red paint. And in January the facade was already in light.
What is going on on Wormerplein?
“I hope they quickly find out who is behind this,” says the neighbor, who lives in one of the houses across the street. “They are very quiet, friendly people, so I have no idea what is going on here.”
The owner of Moonlight Beauty Company, a hair removal clinic, also agrees a little further. She has always had a good relationship with her neighbors. “It is very annoying to see this happen and I sympathize with them.”
The shock is good at the owner of the catering facility. He has been cleaning up the mess all morning, but does not want to say much about the events. “If only extortion, we at least knew what’s going on,” says a family spokesperson.
