Owen Wijndal has made his comeback in the shirt of Ajax. The left back was on the bench at AZ – Ajax (2-1) on Sunday for the first time after a month and a half of injuries, but then got no playing time. This afternoon in the closed practice match against FC Utrecht, he played the entire match. Ajax lost 2-1 at De Toekomst and saw Lisandro Magallán leave the dressing room prematurely with two yellow cards.
Of course all internationals were missing at Ajax and trainer Alfred Schreuder left the coaching to his assistant Michael Reiziger. After only ten minutes Lorenzo Lucca shot the ball behind former Ajax goalkeeper Calvin Raatsie, after preparatory work by Ar’jany Martha: 1-0.
Despite the good start, the Amsterdammers were unable to push through. After half an hour FC Utrecht midfielder Luuk Brouwers headed the equalizer behind goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg. In the injury time of the first half, the reigning national champion got the lid on the nose. A measured cross from former Ajax player Amin Younes fell at the feet of Rick Meissen. He tapped the ball in: 1-2.
Red card
No more goals were scored in the second half. The result was even more painful for Ajax, because Magallan received his second yellow card after a riot with Younes. As a result, Ajax played with one man less in the last half hour. Despite this, the home team became dangerous a number of times, but the defeat proved inevitable.
