The number of coronavirus infections has risen sharply. In the period between 7 and 13 June, an average of 2,432 people became infected each day, an increase of no less than 79 percent from the previous week. This is apparent from the preliminary figures of the health institute Sciensano.

If we look at the daily figures, we see that every day of the week an increase in the number of infections has been registered compared to the same day a week earlier.
The positivity ratio is 21.7 percent† The reproduction rate of the virus is at 1.12 (+9 percent). A value higher than 1 means that the virus is gaining strength.
Hospital admissions
The number of hospital admissions also continues to rise. Between 10 and 16 June, daily average 66.3 people hospitalized as a result of a corona infection. That is an increase of 20 percent.
Hospital Occupation
There are now 898 corona patients in hospitals (+1 percent), of whom 47 in intensive care.
deaths
The number of deaths as a result of a corona infection is still falling. Between 7 and 13 June, every day on average died 5.6 people, down 15 percent. In total already dead 31,856 people in our country from the virus.
