Overjoyed Quinten van den Heerik shoots Telstar to the left row: “This is not normal”

The discharge in Velsen-Zuid was huge tonight after Quinten van den Heerik scored his second goal of the evening. Therefore end The White Lions in the left row of the first division. “This is not normal,” says the substitute, who secured the victory over NAC Breda (2-1).

With his first contact with the ball, he already shot his team alongside in the final minutes of regular playing time. “I don’t remember exactly,” says Van den Heerik, who was completely overjoyed. Immediately after the 1-1, the game was temporarily stopped because objects were thrown on the field.

Time-out

Mike Snoei eagerly took advantage of this to instruct his team one more time. “If we had played on, I don’t think we would have even made the winning one,” says Snoei. In the dying seconds of the game it was again Van den Heerik who was accurate. “A lot of emotion and joy was released. I play a season in which I don’t make many minutes in the first team,” says Van den Heerik, who mainly made minutes in the second team.

Thanks to the goal and the 2-1 victory, Telstar ends the season ninth in the first division. “These are boys’ books,” says Snoei, who celebrated a small party on the field with his staff afterwards. The play-offs were no longer possible for the people of Velsen, but according to Van den Heerik there could have been much more.

Final grade 8

During the competition Telstar dangled in a virtual twelfth place for quite some time, but after the victory it climbed to ninth place. “That makes football so much fun,” continues Snoei, who had the ambition to play the play-offs. The trainer ultimately gives the season an 8. “We didn’t get the most out of it. To crack a critical note: we didn’t score enough.”
