Over-70s and 34-year-old man died in Friesland accident | Domestic

UpdateThree people have died in a traffic accident in eastern Friesland. This concerns a 71-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman from the municipality of Dantumadiel and a 34-year-old man from the municipality of Achtkarspelen. The police reported this on Friday.

On Thursday, around 5:30 p.m., two cars collided head-on on the N369 near the village of Kootstertille. The three people who died were occupants of the two vehicles. According to the police, assistance was of no further use.

The Friesland police initially spoke of several people who had been seriously injured. Ambulances and the fire brigade arrived on the scene. It was later reported that the emergency services were of no avail, the trio had died.

It is not clear how the accident could have happened. The police are conducting further investigation into the circumstances and have temporarily closed the road.

Images show that white screens have been placed at the scene of the accident. A car with a lot of damage to the front is parked on the side of the road. The front of the other car also has a lot of damage.

Kootstertille is a village in the municipality of Achtkarspelen, east of Leeuwarden and north of Drachten.
