The driver who hit the group of cyclists in Castellbisbal (Barcelona) this Sunday, leaving behind two dead and one critically injured“not only did not brake but accelerated“, according to the account of one of the uninjured survivors.
The president of the Rubí cycling club, which was part of the group of cyclists attacked, Pedro Cancio, explained to Efe how the accident happened, when he and seven other cyclists were doing the Gelida-Terrassa route (Barcelona). The group pedaled along the road between Castellbisbal and Martorell (Barcelona) and were destroyed by a vehicle that would have occupied the opposite lane.
“The one who was the last in the group, who was able to react and fall to one side, without further consequences, He saw how he accelerated and stuck out his arm as if to say ‘you stay here’ and gesticulating with a ‘comb'”Cancio has pointed out.
“When we were going over a wide bridge past Martorell, a car in front changed lanes and took everyone ahead. Furthermore, the car didn’t even brake, it sped up”, lamented the cycling fan, who claimed: “This it’s not an accidentit has not been unintentionally, as the events occurred, it is an attack”. Cancio has defended that there was “bad intention” Well, “he changed lanes for no reason and sped up.”
The cyclist explained that they did not get to see his face, although his partner who was at the end of the pack did find that he was “a boy”. “While he was on the ground, he reproached him for the facts and he stuck his arm out the window,” he said.
In line with the Catalan Cycling Federation, the Rubí cycling club claims that the laws protect them and that “these criminals do not get off scot-free” and “the judges have tools to punish these people.”
Rubí has declared three days of official mourning for the death of the two cyclists. One of them died on the spot and another while being transferred by helicopter to the Vall d’Hebron hospital. Of the two injured transferred to the Bellvitge hospital, one is out of danger and another in critical condition.

The accident took place at kilometer point 0.5 of the C-243c, which remained closed for a few hours. The Mossos d’Esquadra received the notice at 10:47 am.
