The e-commerce specialist Bergfreunde GmbH was able to pass a symbolic milestone in 2021. For the first time in the company’s history, sales exceeded the 200 million euro mark, the supplier of mountaineering, climbing and outdoor items said on Wednesday. Compared to the previous year, sales increased by 31 percent to 203 million euros.
“The consistently high demand for outdoor products combined with continued strong e-commerce growth formed the basis for success,” explains Managing Director Ronny Höhn in a statement. “Some effects have been amplified by the impact of the pandemic. It is thanks to the commitment and inventiveness of our teams that we were able to put this growth on the road with a high level of customer satisfaction.”
The prospects are also positive: For 2022, the management “continues to expect growth and profitable business development,” the company said. “We expect further opportunities this year through the expansion of our range and the continuous improvement of the shopping experience for customers in our online shops,” explained Höhn. “We see particular potential in the area of our own brand, the successful development of which we are continuing to promote.”
