Out for Monaco? F1 boss Domenicali plans ‘incredible project’

The future of Formula 1 racing in Monaco is not yet certain. Now the F1 boss is also giving an interview in which he brings up a race very close by – and is really enthusiastic about it.

Concerned about the whereabouts of the Monaco classic Formula 1 in the racing calendar, the principality is facing competition from the neighborhood. Formula 1 managing director Stefano Domenicali revealed in an interview with the French sports newspaper “L’Équipe” that Nice is trying to become a venue for the premier class of motorsport.

Le Castellet races are almost over

The Italian spoke of an “incredible project”. This in turn could mean the end of the race in Le Castellet in France. “All I can tell you is that by the end of July you will know more about the future of your Grand Prix,” said Domenicali.

Domenicali had recently met with those responsible for the course in Kyalami in South Africa. The world’s best-known racing series last made a stadium there in 1993.

His visit there was obviously about a possible return in the coming year.

“We’re a World Cup, but Africa isn’t there at the moment. That has to change,” Domenicali told L’Équipe. There should be 23 to 24 races in the coming year. The Formula 1 boss did not rule out rotations.
