Many residential care centers will increase their prices from 1 May. They do so because the Flemish government allows them to index twice this year. As a result, many elderly people see the bill rise to 200 euros. “You cannot blame the government for the fact that life is becoming more expensive,” writes investigative journalist Jeroen Bossaert. “The fact that it is currently not compensating for the rising cost of living for the weakest is reprehensible.”
