Indian Wells (AP) – Dominik Koepfer and Oscar Otte were eliminated in the second round of the Indian Wells Masters.
Koepfer defended himself against the Russian Andrei Rublev for a long time, but lost 5: 7, 4: 6 on Sunday and missed a surprise against number seven in the tennis world rankings. Otte forced a third set against the number eleven seeded Pole Hubert Hurkacz and lost 3:6, 6:3, 3:6 in the end.
The hard court tournament, worth around 8.6 million US dollars, is one of the most important events on the ATP tour. Olympic champion Alexander Zverev is the last remaining German in the men’s field and will meet Tommy Paul from the USA in his second round match in the evening (local time). Philipp Kohlschreiber, Jan-Lennard Struff and Daniel Altmaier were eliminated in the first round.
