Ostend trumps Charleroi, Kortrijk and STVV get stuck on a goalless draw
Ostend moves up to a provisional fourth place in the general classification with 6 out of 9, while the Carolos are only eleventh with 3 points. Kortrijk is in eighth place with 4 units and STVV is fourteenth after three consecutive draws. The Kustboys took the lead on Mambourg just before half an hour against the flow of the game. Robbie D’Haese floored Herve Koffi with a bang across the corner.
After more than 10 minutes, Joris Kayembe’s opening goal was rejected on behalf of the Zebras. Ken Nkuba, who managed to get a ready assist from Kayembe, once again balanced the plates in the Black Country. Ostend took the lead for a second time when Nick Batzner finished off with a bumpy shot. A triple substitution by Edward Still in the final quarter did not help any more, on the contrary: substitute Kevin Ndicka recorded the final score deep in the added time.
In the Guldenspoor Stadium, the spectacle score was still on the board after 90 minutes in the confrontation between the Guys and the Canaries. Where the Kortrijk residents were more dominant in the first half, the Truienaars had more dominance after the break. Franck Boya saw the 0-1 burst on the post in the 81st minute. Earlier in the day, a frisky Racing Genk triumphed 4-2 against an efficient Eupen.
