Ostend makes the Sint-Lodewijksschool neighborhood safer
The busy school rush hour and the high volume of traffic not only create unsafe situations for the students who come to school by bicycle or on foot, but also for the residents of the entire neighbourhood. The city of Ostend therefore wants to tackle the bottleneck. “Safe school environments are a priority for this city government. With new measures such as bicycle streets, a school street and adapted kiss and pie zones, we want to increase safety in the neighborhood and put school-age children who come on foot or by bike at the center. Together with the police, we will closely monitor these concrete measures so that parents can safely drop off and pick up their children,” says Mayor Bart Tommelein.
The measures will take effect on Tuesday 3 May 2022.
