Ostend makes the beach accessible to wheelchair users

It is a temporary construction in concrete that will be put away after the bathing season. It is a great improvement for wheelchair users, but people with prams also use it. “We started making our beaches accessible in 2020 and today we can already make the fourth location accessible. The first location is at Mariakerke. There we have a Zee Zorgeloos facility with an electric wheelchair where you can fully autonomously reach the water you can go,” says accessibility alderman Hina Bhatti.
