Ostend Koerse revives equestrian sport

In Ostend, horses will gallop 1,000 meters in a straight line every Monday this summer. The Wellington Racecourse is the only racecourse in our country where this is possible, so Ostend always attracts the best horses and jockeys. Although there is also attention for the experience around the racetrack, because equestrian sport needs to be reinvented a bit. “I do think there is still a market for equestrian sports, but we need to reinvent it a bit. We are now doing the same in Ostend. Our great advantage is that there are many people on the coast. We now have to give those people a taste of equestrian sport,” says organizer Olivier Orlans.
