Ostend is looking for young people for a project that improves chances of success
The project in question is called Boost, by the King Baudouin Foundation. It is mainly aimed at motivated young people from vulnerable backgrounds. In the project they receive help during their secondary studies and higher education. They also learn skills for personal development and are encouraged to set an example for other young people.
Young people who participate are allowed to use a laptop and a printer, receive an internet connection and a budget of 2,400 euros over four years for sports, culture or a language internship.
“Encouraging”
Boost is already running in Ostend with thirteen young people at the moment, and the city calls the results “encouraging”. “This initiative is a unique concept that fits in perfectly with our high commitment to poverty reduction,” says Mayor Bart Tommelein. “It is an extra asset in our approach to underprivileged poverty.”
