İstanbulspor Coach Osman Zeki Korkmaz said that he was not happy with 1 point in the 1-1 draw with MKE Ankaragücü in the 28th week of Trendyol Super League.
Speaking at the press conference held after the match, Korkmaz started his speech by paying tribute to the Ankaragücü fans who died in a traffic accident 5 years ago.
Stating that they were able to reflect very little of the plans they made before the match on the field, Korkmaz said:
“We started the match with the pressure of the opponent, as we planned throughout the week. Especially the first 20 minutes of the first half were very important. We could not test well in that part when we had the ball. After taking the lead, we should have had more ball in the second half. Our opponent was missing, we could take advantage of our own formation. We could have used the advantage of our own formation. We lost on the ground. We shouldn’t have waited behind so many opponents. Even though they were missing, Ankaragücü’s game concentration was better in the second half. It might seem nice to get points in such an away game before the match started. We got 1 point from our worst match of our season, so we can be happy, but when we look at the story of the match, we are happy I am not.”
Emphasizing that they did not play well and that they accepted this match as a milestone for the rest of the season, Korkmaz said, “We are not interested in the situation we are in, where we will be next year. Our minds will be on the field. We rented our 5 friends who played in the first 11 to other teams by planning with the management. I cannot take refuge in the absence of an alternative. A football player is wearing an Istanbulspor jersey. “If he goes on the field, he should play to win. There are lessons we need to learn from this match. We will go on the field to win every match.” he said.
