Oshin Derieuw wins silver at European Games

Oshin reached the final after a nice 5-0 win against the Hungarian Anna Luca Hamori in the semifinals. In the final for the gold medal, the Turkish Busenaz proved to be too strong. Oshin lost 0-5, but that’s not a disaster as Busenaz is Olympic champion of Tokyo and reigning world champion.

Qualified for 2024 Olympic Games

In boxing, the European Games offered nominated quota places for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 for the semi-finalists in each weight category. Because Oshin managed to qualify for the semi-finals, after a 3-2 victory against the French Emilie Sonvico, she joins the list of selectable athletes for Paris 2024. Derieuw Oshin is also the first Belgian boxer ever to know herself to qualify for the Olympic Games.

Thirteen medals

With her silver medal, Oshin brings Team Belgium’s final medal counter to thirteen (2 gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze). Sarah Chaârin, Gianny De Leu, Thomas Carmony, Axana Depypere, Quentin Mahauden, Sarah Piccirillo, Stef Van Campenhout, Jolien Vermeylen and Vasile Ustoroi took care of the other Belgian medals.
