You would have to take them more light: after all, art is not sport and the big films are thanks to the passage of time. Do not account: 10%, take the criteria you take for “best cinema.” That said, it is usually a tribune and a diagnosis of what the entertainment world thinks of itself and occasion for many celebrities of justifying being millionaires adhering to noble causes. But something happened this time: even if Tout-Hollywood usually identifies with the Democratic Party, and after a year where they exhausted the entire dictionary of insults towards Donald Trump, it was very little what was there of politics, protest or (oh, the term!) “Wokismo”. Not even Elon Musk, new scarecrows of political correction, was criticized or mentioned.

And nothing more. Revised the awards, everything was quite fair. But the most interesting thing was the destruction of Emilia Pérez, who won the only awards he could win. The song, debatable. Zoe Saldaña’s is a perfect test. The protagonist of the movie, Karla Sofía Gascónwas the great white hope: the first trans actress capable of taking the prize in its category.
But they already know: old tweets came out condemning radical Islam and began a witch hunt. Gascón not only had to be trans, but woke too. That destroyed his chances and, consequently, those of the film. That he won Saldaña (who did not mention it in his gratitude) was a bit “save one of our fire.” It was worthy that Gascón went to the gala and the joke made by Conan O’Brien over the tweets (that is a great American tradition, the “roast”, the mockery of the famous, nothing to be offended) because it could not be mentioned the elephant in the room. But at the same time, he showed the exhaustion of Woke discourse, which falls into contradictions by his own, inflexible weight.
