F1 promise Oscar Piastri the confusing transfer saga will not subside. According to ESPN Piastri would have signed a preliminary contract with McLaren.
The deal started on Tuesday, when the F1 team Alpine announced on Twitter that Piastri would be moving to Aston Martin Fernando Alonso place next season.
Piastri, who was part of Alpine’s junior program, denied the transfer just an hour later on his own Twitter account.
– I think Alpine has published a press release where they say that I will drive in the team next year. This is wrong. I haven’t signed a contract with Alpine for next season. I won’t drive them next year, Piastri wrote.
Now rumors are taking the reigning champion of the Formula 2 class to Alpine’s rival, McLaren.
However, McLaren has contracts for next season by Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo with. The team has recruited its reserve drivers Colton Hertan, Dam O’Ward’s and Alex Paloun.
The contract of Ricciardo, who performed poorly, is valid until the end of 2023. A clause has been written into the deal, according to which the Australian driver could change teams.
Ricciardo drove for Alpine in 2019 and 2020, when the team was still known as Renault. If the trade comes, there would be room for Piastr in the team.
