Assen looks back on a successful TT Night. About 85,000 visitors went to the city center on Saturday evening to party there, including at the various stages. The municipality of Assen speaks of “a pleasant, busy, manageable evening”.
According to the organization, there was a lot of exuberance, fun and cheerfulness among the audience. “It was atmospherically busy, a party night with an old-fashioned TT atmosphere,” says director Jan Gerben Krol of the TT Festival. The partygoers were well spread across the city, including the TT Kermis.
Police have made three arrests in the city center. A 23-year-old Assenaar was arrested in Javastraat because he had drugs in his pocket.
Just outside the center of Assen, on the Overcingellaan, a 21-year-old man from Zutphen was arrested around 0.45 am. He had no identification with him and was subsequently arrested for insulting a police officer. According to the police, it is not clear whether he also visited the TT Festival.
There was also an incident during an alcohol check at the Korenmaat, in Assen-Zuid. There, a 47-year-old driver from Westerbork seemed to want to leave around 11:30 p.m. An officer was dragged a short distance and fell in the process. The man was arrested for attempted aggravated assault.
