Organization Roldermarkt is happy with wet run-up

“De Trans is perhaps the largest employer of Rolde and there was already talk about organizing something with them. Monday – the day on which the program was empty in other years – is now a holiday for De Trans. In the afternoon we close finish it with Lucas and Gea. Everyone is welcome there, by the way.”

On Tuesday morning, the Roldermarkt will start again with the traditional horse market from 6 a.m. After a few disappointing editions, Emmens expects another good supply this year. “We have two people on the board with good contacts in the horse world. We are countering the downward trend. Although you always have to be careful with mentioning numbers, I expect between 100 and 200 horses.”

Emmens himself thinks the Sunday playback show is an absolute highlight. “Then you see people, who are generally quite neat, change completely. With make-up and a wig on, they stand on stage. The roof comes off here. And I have to say: the level is really high. At least, I think so.”

Where as an organizer you are not quickly waiting for heavy showers, it is different at Emmens. “I am very happy with this rain! The farmers, who ultimately created the market, need this very much. Moreover: everything that falls now will no longer fall.”

Emmens also thinks that it can improve the atmosphere. “The farmers are growing the grass this weekend, they can have a nice beer on Tuesday and immediately work on the grass on Wednesday. Then they are very satisfied!”
