Ordino Arcalís celebrates the XXX edition of the Borrufa Trophy

Ordino Arcalís will host the Borrufa Trophy for another season, which this year celebrates a special edition with the 30th anniversary. The famous international competition will once again bring together, from January 24 to 27, learning and fun in a unique sporting and personal experience for young skiers and participating teams. This year some 175 skiers from 16 different countries will participate, accompanied by a total of 90 people who make up the respective technical staffs.

Given the health situation, the competition will guarantee a safe environment again under the supervision of the health authorities of the Government of Andorra and from the station itself thanks to the protocols designed for the competition, with bubble groups and tests, as well as the obligation for participants to present the Covid Certificate.

The firm commitment of the organizers, sponsors and collaborators makes the Borrufa Trophy has established itself as an unmissable event in the sector, and has become a success until reaching the 30th edition. A fact that has been highlighted in the presentation of the trophy that was held this morning at the headquarters of Crèdit Andorrà, and which has had the presence of the Minister of Culture and Sports, Silvia Riva; the senior consul of the Comú de Ordino, Josep Angel Mortes; the director of Corporate Communication, Marketing and New Channels of Crèdit Andorrà, Joan R. Mas; the manager of the Andorran Ski Federation (FAE), Carlos Visa; and the Marketing Director of Grandvalira Resorts, David Ledesma.

Silvia Riva has reaffirmed that the Borrufa Trophy “is fully aligned with the objectives of the Government to support clubs, the federation and grassroots work behind it, and we firmly and sincerely believe in this type of project. In addition, we are happy to do it on a stage like Ordino Arcalís”. For its part, Josep Angel Mortes has recalled the continued support of the Comú de Ordino to the celebration of the trophy since its first edition. “They are 30 years of illusion, effort and dedication, with generations of young skiers selected by the FAE who have made us live moments of pride & rdquor ;, has indicated the senior consul of Ordino. Along the same lines, it has been stated Joan R. Mas, who has pointed out that “Thanks to the efforts of all of us, we have achieved that, year after year, the Borrufa Trophy continues to consolidate successfully. As a country of snow that we are, skiing is one of the main protagonists of sports, social and economic activity in Andorra. It is very important to work and promote grassroots sport with the new generations.”

In the technical section, Carlos Visa has explained that A total of 20 Andorran runners have been selected to participate in the competition, divided into 2 teams of 10 runners each. Of these, 12 are U16 runners and 8 are U14. “The pre-season has gone well, with an initial part of the season in which, unlike last year, they have been able to pick up a good pace. We believe that they arrive well prepared, although we imagine that the rest of the delegations will also have prepared the appointment with the maximum guarantees”, commented the manager of the FAE.

Prevention and security measures of the Borrufa Trophy

The Marketing Director of Grandvalira Resorts has also explained that have established a series of security protocols to prevent the transmission of Covid. For example, all athletes and their coaches must come with the Covid certificate, as well as a PCR/TMA test of a maximum of 72 hours in order to be registered. The teams will be organized in bubble groups to ensure the safety of all participants.

The Borrufa Trophy races will be held on different days depending on the categories (U14 and U16) and the modalities (Supergiant-SG-, Giant Slalom-GS, Slalom -SL- and National Team Event -NTE-). The competition will be held at slopes of Les Canals, Portella del Mig and Canaro (NTE). It should be noted that the competition is part of the FIS international circuit, as it has done since the first edition.
