Orders for Sail stamps are pouring in at Cees: “Den Helder should be proud”

Stamp fanatics can’t believe their luck, now that special stamps from Sail are on sale. A special moment for stamp dealer Cees van der Wel. “I put it prominently in the shop window.”

PostNL had two types of stamp sheets designed by Maud van Rossum from Amsterdam and yesterday they were handed over to mayor Jan de Boer for the first time for the historic warship De Bonaire.

That was also the starting signal for Cees van der Wel, owner of a stamp shop in Den Helder, to get started with his orders. They have been pouring in from home and abroad for several days now. There are enthusiasts from France, Hungary, Poland, America and even Uzbekistan who want to have this collector’s item at home.

‘Nice picture’

And according to the stamp enthusiast, this foreign interest is not for nothing, because it is a special stamp. “Nowadays stamps are also made with a number code, but I find that a bit meaningless. I prefer a nice picture. And Den Helder can certainly be proud of this.”

In the video below, Cees shows the special stamps and prepares the first orders for shipment.
