National coach Louis van Gaal will play the first game at the World Cup against Senegal with the Orange on November 21. Four days later, Ecuador is the opponent, while the group stage will conclude on November 29 with a meeting with host country Qatar.

During the draw, the Netherlands was linked to a country team from pot 1, so Qatar, pot 3 (Senegal) and pot 4 (Ecuador). National coach Louis van Gaal, not present in Doha because of a positive PCR test, did not rule out that he is so lucky that the Orange would draw the host country. “I often have luck hanging on my pants,” he said.
