Orange disc of five, flying a kite without wind and with your nose in the grass during King’s Day

In Noordscheschut, the focus today is not on orange, but on green. Dick Bosman – the baker from the village – has called on all his fellow villagers to break the world record for planks. For that he needs at least 1600 people who lie as stiff as a board on the lawn of the local football club.

It is not exactly stormy just before the start of the world record attempt. “Yes, that’s because the canteen isn’t open. Then people don’t know what to do,” Bosman jokes. Of course, his call is with a big wink, but somehow he really wants as many people as possible together.

And yes, there you are on King’s Day in the grass of the football club. “I did some training this morning, together with my son. We stayed in bed for half an hour longer,” jokes one participant. After an official count by a notary, it appears that Bosman is more than 1400 plankers short. Much laughter and applause, another try next year. Just like a new King’s Day.
