Opposition councilor files complaint with governor: “My right to ask questions has been taken away”

In Ypres, Open Ypres, N-VA and CD&V go to the voters with one list. Striking, because CD&V is currently still in the opposition. The Vooruit party, which currently still governs with Open Ypres and N-VA, will then be alone.

Turned down

Opposition councilor Nancy Six of IEPER2030 wanted to ask questions about this, but municipal council president Ann-Sophie Himpe rejected those questions. “No questions should be asked about the personal intentions of the members of the council of aldermen,” she says. But Six disagrees: “There is nothing about this in the internal regulations of the municipal council, so my right to ask questions has been taken away.”

Six now files a complaint with Governor Carl Decaluwé.
