About twenty years ago, a linguistics seminar at Leiden University discussed language changes and when they are accepted. On my suggestion that a criterion of its occurrence in NRC could be, professor Jan Kooij pulled his most solemn face. „If it is in NRC state, then it is official.”
June 18, 2022, eighteen years after his death, I read in NRC: “the cerebral infarction”, “that sound system”. I wonder what he would have thought of that.
