As a single woman I try to be independent. That works well, but I cannot overcome my fear of mice. Recently, at 5:30 am, I heard my cat growling with prey in the living room. In the twilight all I saw was a silhouette the size of a rat. I completely panicked. After receiving telephone support from my sister, I ran into the street in my pajamas and picked the first man on the street. Almost in tears, I begged him to clean up the rat. The sweet man got to work while I stood shaking in the kitchen. When I asked if it worked, he shouted: “It’s a shoe!”
