A number of apartments are being built in our residential complex in Maastricht.

The construction workers working on this come from Poland, Hungary or Bulgaria.

It’s difficult to have a chat. The older ones try German, but the younger ones sometimes try English.

When I carefully ask the plasterer whether he speaks some Dutch, the answer is in unadulterated Maastricht: “Mê jông…. for 62 years”.
