Early in the morning at the station I get a cup of coffee and an apple.
The woman behind the counter: “That’s all?”
Me: “Yes, that’s all, thank you!”
She: “No, I asked if I will wash it.”
Me: “Oh, sorry, I didn’t understand you, but no thanks, that’s not necessary.”
I immediately feel guilty, it’s actually rude that I still have my earplugs in. She smiles: “It’s okay, I have those days too: in one ear and out the other.” And as she says that, she starts washing the apple.
