Opening practice trenches in Koekelarebos for new WWI theme year

In Koekelare, the tourist services organize the experience tour ‘Het Ribbon’. You will be taken along 11 locations that played an important role in the German presence in our region. At each location you will find more information on signs and in the ErfgoedApp. Hundreds of yellow ribbons along the way guide you along the right path, referencing the song ‘Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree’.

There are also two new works of art along the course and the showpiece will undoubtedly be the exposure of the German training trench system in Koekelarebos.

During the official opening, the project was presented and ‘Het Ribbon’ was officially walked in by visiting some of the locations.
