Open VLD in defense against allegations Jean-Marie Dedecker

The current mayor and then opposition leader believes that bribes were paid to help construction group Willemen with the construction contract for the casino.

Frederick Spaey, Open-VLD Middelkerke: “I will not speak out of turn, but I think we should let the courts take their course. If it is considered that no additional investigative actions should be carried out, and it is considered that a non-prosecution should be made, then I do indeed think that this file weighs far too lightly to convict those people. Everyone is innocent until proven otherwise.”

Former alderman Liliane Pylyser-Dewulf (CD&V) also reacts, but not in front of our camera: she retains confidence in the judicial investigation, and says that all the claims of Jean-Marie Dedecker are untrue.

The Public Prosecution Service is now indeed advising the suspension of prosecution of the aldermen and former mayors who have been accused of fraud by Lijst Dedecker.
