Open Site Day attracts nearly 200,000 physical and virtual visitors | Inland

Nearly 200,000 people have physically or virtually participated in the Open Sites Day today. The Construction Confederation, which is behind the initiative, speaks with 54,000 physical and 141,000 virtual visitors about a “very successful edition”.

Today, more than 90 yards were open to the general public – ranging from major infrastructure works such as the Oosterweel and the lock at Terneuzen to yards for energy-efficient homes and neighborhoods, for example – ten of which could only be visited virtually. The theme of the 15th edition was energetic renovation, affordability of living and repurposing of buildings.

“More and more people are interested in our sector, as indicated by the very high digital and physical visits. Those 200,000 visitors were able to enjoy the diversity of yards and the climate solutions that our sector offers,” concludes a satisfied Niko Demeester, Managing Director of the Confederation Construction.

In 2020, the Open Sites Day was canceled due to the corona crisis, and in 2021 the yards could only be visited virtually from behind the computer screen.
