The Scala Open Rehearsals are back

Let’s go Sunday 23 January with the inaugural rehearsal conducted by Riccardo Chailly which will celebrate a new beginning for the charity cycle, interrupted due to the health emergency in February 2020 after the first performance in favor of OBM, theBuzzi Onlus Children’s Hospital of Milan, with Ottavio Dantone on the podium.

The inaugural preview is dedicated to the beyond forty organizations supported in the first ten years of the project and the people followed by Social Services of the Municipality of Milan.

The program will match the music of Igor Stravinsky, the two Suites, the one for small orchestra and that of 1919 from L’Oiseau de feu, at one of the top of the čajkovskian symphonism, the fifth in E minor.

The overture will open the concert commissioned to Giorgio Battistelli for the orchestra’s fortieth anniversary.

The three Open Rehearsals skipped in 2020

They will not remain without reprogramming the three paid appointments missed in 2020 which anticipate the respective concerts on the bill e who raise funds to support as many associations that in Milan host and assist the families of children and young people, from all over Italy, hospitalized in the most important Milanese hospitals. The fixed period will be from 13 March to 23 October 2022.

The first test, directed by Andrea Noseda with Nikolai Demidenko at the piano, will take place on Sunday 13 March in favor of the Ada Bolchini Dell’Acqua Onlus Visitor Foundation for Maternity.

Sunday April 10 it will be the turn of the evening in support of PIM Pio Istituto di Maternità Onlus with Myung-Whun Chung on the podium.

Last appointment Sunday 23 October 2022 with the test intended for LILT Italian League for the Fight against Cancer Milan Monza Brianza APS, directed by Riccardo Chailly with Pablo Ferrandez on the cello.

The Filarmonica della Scala for social issues

Care of children and the elderly, fight against poverty, assistance to people with disabilities, scientific research, initiatives for young people in the suburbs. Since its creation with Claudio Abbado, have been numerous initiatives dedicated to social issues promoted byLa Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, with both fundraising evenings and public concerts.

And thanks to the synergy between public, private and non-profit organizations over the years it was possible to respond to many different needs of the community, making the Open rehearsal an appointment with solidarity for the whole city, as well as an event deeply felt by a large audience of enthusiasts.

And on January 22, evening for the Haiti earthquake

January 12 marks the anniversary of terrible earthquake that destroyed Haiti in 2010 causing 230,000 deaths, 300,000 injuries and 1 million displaced. The Saint Damien it was a reference center for international rescue, a base for the Civil Protection and the Navy with the Cavour aircraft carrier.

But despite 12 years having passed, Haiti, even today, is in full emergency. The Covid-19 pandemic and another earthquake that hit the island last August 14, also followed by a tropical storm, was added to an already heavily compromised scenario.

To support that tormented land, Saturday 22 January the traditional Extraordinary Evening of the Teatro alla Milan staircase And the entire proceeds will be donated to Saint Damien, the only pediatric hospital in very poor Haiti, which cares for 80,000 children a year, structure of excellence built and supported by Francesca Rava Foundation.

Exceptionally, it was reserved for the Foundation a performance of La bayadère, a title that inaugurated the 2021-2022 season of Balletto alla Scala: an important and prestigious ballet, with choreography and direction by great Nureyev, in a new production. On the podium Kevin Rhodes conducting the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra.
