Paris Jackson, daughter of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, has revealed on social media that her former drug addiction has left a lasting mark – literally. The 27-year-old explained that she has a hole in her nasal septum as a result of her previous use.
The musician and actress shared a candid update with her followers over the weekend: “I have a perforated septum – exactly what you think it’s coming from. Don’t do drugs, kids.”
In doing so, she confirmed that her drug past had left lasting physical consequences.
A visible reminder of dark times
Paris explained that the hole in her nose occurred when she was around 20 years old – a time when she was struggling with substance abuse. Now she can talk about it without being ashamed. “The hole is so big I can fit a spaghetti noodle through from one nostril to the other.”
Michael Jackson’s daughter has spoken several times in the past about her mental health problems and her difficult youth. After her father’s death in 2009, she fell into a deep crisis that ultimately resulted in drug abuse and self-harm.
No surgery – for good reason
Despite the physical impairment, Paris Jackson does not want to have surgery. She explains: “Surgery would require painkillers, and I simply don’t want to have anything to do with such substances anymore.” The fear of falling back into old patterns outweighs her desire for cosmetic correction.
In January, Paris proudly announced on Instagram that she had been clean and sober for five years. She describes her recovery as a daily struggle, but at the same time as her greatest success. The hole in the nose: a reminder.
