Op1 and Humberto with brand new sets: what do the TV critics think?

The talk show violence has erupted again: where Hélène Hendriks only chatted in the summer, Op1 and Humberto are now back. With two brand new decors.

The NPO 1 talk show Op1 and the RTL 4 talk show Humberto returned last night with 669 and 630 thousand viewers respectively, so that the gold remains in the hands of the SBS 6 talk show Today Inside. 887 thousand people watched that. Where VI continues on the same foot, the two competitors have a new look.

Spaceship

Raymond Mens, the two-tonner of Today Inside, is shocked. “Just zapped past Op1 and Humberto. What did they do with the studios there? Op1 always looked nice, but now resembles Studio Sport in the late 1990s – good guys by the way. At RTL it seems as if the light is broken…?”, he writes on X.

Ron Vergouwen, the media connoisseur of NPO Radio 1, thinks Op1 now looks just like a spaceship. “Op1 has taken a month (!) vacation to renovate the decor, among other things. And what does that new decor look like? I would say fasten your seat belts…”

Less hot

What does Ron think of Humberto’s new decor? “The previous decor (shared with Jinek and Beau) looked a lot warmer/intimate from this perspective. But the shots of the table guests look good. In any case, the Hilversum video screen farmer had a great summer.”

He continues: “Is it just me or is the table smaller at both Humberto and Op1? Corona is over so apparently we can sit close together again? Or a harbinger that fewer guests will be queuing at the same time?”

Arena shape

Victor Vlam, the male Angela de Jong, thinks that Op1 deliberately chose the form of an arena. “I think the idea behind it is that it looks more like an arena. But it’s not pretty…”

Ron: “An understatement. Like saying, “We’re renovating the bathroom!” And then just put in a new ugly sink.”

Victor: “The platform on which the table is placed is larger. Less risk of guests tripping when changing seats.”

Thomas is lyrical

Thomas van Groningen, Op1’s political analyst, is very enthusiastic. “It has indeed become smaller. And don’t pin me on it, but there are still some things to be tweaked and there will be some more here and there. I think it is progress, but tastes differ, of course.”

Mediapark whisperer Tina Nijkamp is also very pleased with it. “New fresh decor for both Humberto and Op1. Decor Humberto really new. Op1 only slightly modified, namely the decor behind the presenters. And there are now blue poles very clearly visible behind the guests.”
