A remarkable sight in the parking lot at Haarlem-Spaarnwoude station: several motorists apparently did not realize that large-scale work was underway. Their cars are now parked on islands of bricks, surrounded by a sea of sand.
Part of the parking lot will be removed to make room for temporary housing to accommodate war refugees from Ukraine. Dozens of signs on and around the P+R site warn that as of October 23, a parking ban will apply to approximately half of the parking lot.
Several people did not realize this or parked their vehicle there weeks ago. A passerby walking by in the pouring rain points to a small red car, laughing. The wagon is surrounded by a pile of bricks. “Just get rid of those. Stupid too, those signs have been there for a while.” She quickly walks on again, she has to catch the train.
There are a total of five cars that will have to leave the site with great difficulty. Hopefully the rain doesn’t last all the time, otherwise the sea of sand will also turn into a mud puddle.
The many yellow signs announcing the parking ban had been there for some time.
