The sand sprays up in the dune area of Callantsoog during a motocross race in the 1950s. The public is flocking to this unique event. This must have been special then too, because thousands of people come to it. Jacob Vos from Callantsoog filmed the motocross in the dunes and many other sporting events in his village. Such as the ‘friendly’ football match of the local team against German soldiers in the first year of the Second World War.
This series shows what life used to be like in our province. Everyday life and special events have been recorded by amateur film-makers. The historical images have been collected in recent years by the Regional Archive Alkmaar and mostly come from private property. Some statues are unique and have never been seen before.
