Only positive reactions for the first episode ‘Best before’ about the transition

On your wedding day you promise to stay together until death do you part, but in real life growing old together proves to be quite difficult…

Best before

This new comedy series is about Anna and Paul. A whole new phase is beginning for them, now that the children are about to leave home. But then Anna gets menopausal symptoms and Paul sees a promotion opportunity at work. Not exactly the ideal start to their ‘new life’ they had hoped for.

menopausal symptoms

Since the arrival of their first child, Anna (Ricky Koole) has continued her career on hold and mainly focused on the mother role. Now that the children are about to fly out, Anna and her husband Paul (Ruben van der Meer) are getting ready for the seven fat years. Finally time for themselves and each other! But then Anna’s body shows some signs of menopause: a vaginal prolapse, mood swings and hot flashes. Suddenly the future looks a lot less rosy…

Anna struggles with whether she wants to grow old with Paul now that the children are almost out of the house and the focus is suddenly on their relationship. However, both appear to have different goals. Paul throws himself into his promotion in equine nutritional supplements. Anna wants to rediscover herself, which is very difficult now that the transition is just around the corner.

Positive reactions to first episode Best before

Viewers are very excited about the new series. Many recognizable subjects are discussed and Ricky Koole and Ruben van der Meer play their roles ‘greatly’. “A very nice comedy series about menopause. A serious subject that can be intense for women. Really worth watching. I will definitely follow this series,” one viewer wrote on Twitter. Another responds with: “I’m a fan.”
