In a recent podcast with British comedian, actor and writer Adam Buxton, Paul McCartney recounted his meeting with Elvis Presley. The Beatle said that he was very impressed and that Elvis was one of the coolest people he had ever met.
Paul McCartney not only talked about how cool Elvis Presley was at the meeting, but also that the Beatles were very influenced by his music back then. Especially during the creation of the legendary album “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” But as cool as Elvis may have been, he still doesn’t come close to Paul McCartney as a person. When asked on the podcast who the coolest person he’s ever met is, he said: “My wife, I hope she’ll listen to this. She’s very cool.” By this he means Nancy Shevell, to whom he has been married since 2011.
78-year-old Paul McCartney also said of meeting Elvis Presley: “It was before Las Vegas and rhinestone suits. It was when he was in Beverly Hills, he was really cool!” McCartney also talked about how intimidated the Beatles were sitting in front of Presley’s house and how he finally said: “If you just sit there and stare at me, I’m going to bed.”
Barbra Streisand sings on new album with Dylan and McCartney
Barbra Streisand continues her collection of duets. “The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two” will be released on June 27th and features collaborative songs with spectacular guests from Bob Dylan to Paul McCartney and from Mariah Carey to Ariana Grande.
On Wednesday (April 30th) the singer also released a foreshadowing, a wonderful cover version by Roberta Flacks “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” with Hozier.
The other duet partners on the record, the follow-up to their 2014 album “Partners,” also all come from the A-league of pop and rock: James Taylor, Sting, Sam Smith, Seal, Josh Groban, Tim McGraw and Schwanzey.
“They inspire me in unique and different ways,” Streisand said of her choice of collaborators. “I admire them all… and I hope you enjoy listening to our work together as much as I enjoyed recording with all of my wonderful partners.”
For her, the time in the studio with all the musicians was a “true joy,” her statement continues.
