Spokesperson Christine Rompa of Zilveren Kruis says that the health insurer expects that patients can also count on general practitioner care after 1 July. “That is why, for example, it has already been arranged that the current practice space (on the Klem Strip) will remain available after 1 July.”
What exactly this care will look like is being worked out by Zilveren Kruis in collaboration with the HZD and surrounding general practitioners. “We don’t have the exact details yet. We expect to be able to provide more clarity about this in a few weeks.” A temporary general practitioner may first be recruited for the short term.
According to Rompa, some nuance is in order with regard to the comments about the lack of support in the dire situation. At the end of December, Douwes’ insurer was told that he would stop.
“From February, we have really been looking for an answer together. If we had known about the discontinuation of the practice earlier, we might have been able to report the solution now.” Rompa expects it to take some time. Doctors are not readily available in the Southeast Drenthe region, according to the spokesperson.
