Every year, the police in our country draw up more than 40,000 official reports for partner violence – that is more than 100 per day. An important side note: a victim usually only comes forward after 35 (!) offenses. “It is a very complex problem,” says Veerle Cielen, reference magistrate for intimate partner violence at the Limburg public prosecutor’s office.
