According to Flemish Minister of Mobility and Public Works Lydia Peeters, the analysis that only 5 percent of Flemish cycle paths are safe is “completely out of line”. “It is not because we recommend wider cycle paths today that suddenly all other cycle paths built on the basis of older standards are unsafe,” says the Open VLD minister.
