After the Hamburg retail chain Görtz, the next shoe supplier got into financial difficulties: On September 8, the e-commerce specialist Surf4shoes GmbH, based in Bitz in Baden-Württemberg, filed for insolvency. According to a statement, the competent district court in Hechingen then appointed the Stuttgart lawyer Michael Pluta as the provisional insolvency administrator.
At the request of FashionUnited, the parties involved have not yet commented on the background to the move. The specialist magazine Textilwirtschaft (TW) had previously reported on the insolvency.
Surf4shoes was founded in 2006 and offers branded shoes for women, men and children on its own online platform and via digital marketplaces. In 2018, HR Group took a majority stake in the company. The group, which also owns the retail chain Reno, wanted to use the acquisition to expand its e-commerce activities.
