Onishchenko explained the different incidence rates of COVID in Russia and the United States – RBC

In Russia, compared with Europe and the United States, there are fewer cases of coronavirus due to the later end of the holidays. This assumption was expressed by the Honored Doctor of Russia, doctor-epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko, reports “RIA News”

“The incidence, of course, is lower than in Europe and the United States, but not the same as in the statistics, because, naturally, the peculiarity of this disease is different from what it was,” the specialist believes.

In the state of New Jersey, an emergency regime was introduced due to the spread of “omicron”

Onishchenko noted that in the United States, where a very high incidence is recorded, the new strain came earlier, and the holidays ended on January 2, that is, the Americans were the first to go to work and began to become infected.

“We have a head start, we just went to work, a timely order was given – to develop measures. If we now make it so that our collective immunity is not 63%, but we bring it to at least 70%, by convincing the nation to vaccinate and revaccinate, then this will reduce [заболеваемость]”, – believes Onishchenko.
