Material and social deprivation means that someone cannot afford the usual standard of living. At the Flemish level, it was three percent, or 210,000 people.

West Flanders in the minority

The number of people who cannot afford a normal standard of living was highest in the province of Antwerp last year. With a share of four percent, they therefore form the largest group. The number is the lowest in our province. With barely one percent, the West Flemish people form the absolute minority.
