S.keyboard on Sky Cinema One at 9.15 pm Kevin Costner And Diane Lane give us one of their best performances in One of us by Thomas Bezucha. Film loosely based on the novel by Larry Watson, and who gives family drama explodes in a vengeance movie all in the name of love.
The setting is that of a rural western, much loved by Costner. Here also producer and in the shoes of one sheriff retired who is overwhelmed by the death of his son. The drama unfolds unexpectedly when the daughter-in-law marries a criminal.
One of us: the plot
Montana, 1963. George Blackledge (Costner) is a former sheriff who along with his wife Margaret (Lane), his nephew and daughter-in-law are facing a mourning: the death of the son / husband / father. After a few years we find the young widow tied to the violent Dannie Weboya criminal who forces his family to move to the North Dakota.
George and Margaret are worried about their nephew’s fate and they decide to go on a journey to get the baby back. The company it won’t be easy because they are facing a clanheaded by the matriarch Blanche Weboy (Lesley Manville) who has no intention of letting go. George and Margaret will have to fight and risking his own life to snatch his grandson from a marked future. Will they succeed?
A family war to the death
Start one war between the two factions with different worldviews: the Blackledge and the Weboys. George will be forced to take back the pistolwhile Margaret for the first time he will find himself with a rifle in his hand.
In a context from western the law of the strongest is in force, there is no alternative: good must use the same weapons as evil in order to restore balance. Will the grandparents get the better of it? The family drama gradually takes the form of come movie where there are no rules, where the battle is at the last blood and the voltage it’s a growing explosively.
